Dili – 04/06/2013—Last week, on 29 May 2013, CAC Commissioner Adérito de Jesus Soares made a presentation during the 4th Session of the UNCAC Implementation Review Group (IRG) in Vienna, Austria. In his presentation, Commissioner Adérito highlighted Timor-Leste’s effort in combating corruption, including its progresses and challenges, as well as shared information about the country’s UNCAC Self-Assessment exercise last year.
Other speakers in that special session on technical assistance were Anti-Corruption Commissioner of Sierra Leon, representatives from Russia and USAID. Commissioner Adérito’s presentation received greater attention from participants of more than 160 State Parties to the Convention and UNCAC Secretariat.
Since 2011, every year, CAC represents Timor-Leste in the UNCAC IRG meetings. This annual meeting aims to bring all state parties to the convention to review the implementation process and progress made in each country.
CAC Commissioner’s recent meeting in Vienna was accompanied by Timor-Leste Ambassador to Brussel, Mr. Nelson do Santos and two other officers from CAC.
Commissioner Adérito and his team returned to Timor-Leste this last Monday after spent a five-day IRG conference in the capital of Austria.
