Dili – Commissioner of Comissão Anti-Corrupcão (CAC) Dr. Sergio Hornai welcomed the US Ambassador to Timor-Leste H.E. Ms. Kathleen Fizpatrick accompanied by Deputy Ambassador Dan R. Bischof, US Embassy Resident Legal Advisor Mr. David Lewen, Law Enforcement and Security Attaché Lech Kazmirski and Chief-Political, Economic and Consular Section Channa Cummings today (11/2) at CAC office Farol Dili.

The objective of the visit was to introduce USA Embassy team to new CAC Commissioner as well as to discuss the possibilities for further cooperation in the future.

“This is my first time to have visit from Her Excellency Ambassador Ms. Kathleen along with your team and explore possibilities how we could work together in the future,” said Commissioner Sergio Hornai.

Commissioner Hornai said that CAC as state institution is still facing number of challenges and they are required support of the USA Embassy in Timor-Leste. “…

Therefore, We look forward the cooperation with the people of America will be continued to support CAC in strengthening of human resources of CAC…”

While, H.E Ambassador of US, congratulated Mr. Hornai for his new position as a commissioner of CAC and expressed that US embassy in in Timor Leste will continue to support and work together with CAC. “…We are ready to continue working together with CAC…” , Said H.E. Ambassador.

The United States Embassy in Timor-Leste has been assisted CAC in the past by providing in house training and facilitating the overseas training in the areas of investigation of corruption cases. (*)
