Dili – Deputy Commissioner of Comissão Anti Corrupcão (CAC) Manuel Bucar accompanied by the National Director for Foreign Cooperation João do Rosario Correia received Regional Anti-Corruption Advisor of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Ms Zorana Markovic based in Bangkok Thailand on Tuesday (27/3) at CAC office Farol Dili.
The meeting was discussed about the continuation of cooperation between the two institutions in the fight against corruption in Timor-Leste. UNODC has been assisting CAC Timor-Leste since 2014 by providing training for CAC investigators.
Ms Markovic’s presence in Timor-Leste as part of implementation of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UNODC and CAC that inked in August 2014. UNODC presence in Timor-Leste is to support law enforcement agencies in Timor-Leste such as CAC by providing technical assistance and capacity building program to this respective institution.
The two-hour meeting is a continued support from UNODC, for the past four years UNODC has been provided training in the area of investigation, interrogation, anti-money laundering, computer forensic and digital evidence and economic and financial crime, etc. (*)
